this commercial series proved to be one of the most popular marketing campaigns in FONA’s history. there were nine spots made in all, and some of the spots are still broadcast to this day.
 
FONA is a major electronics chain in scandinavia, on par with circuit city or best buy from the united states.
 
the production design for the FONA campaign needed to be streamlined and stripped down to the bare essentials, allowing for maximum impact of each spot’s visual punch line, hence the muted minimalism of the set constructions.
 
though we were busy, finishing production for nine commercials over the course of three shoot days, working on this campaign afforded me another opportunity to ”play” with director of photography jacob kusk.
 
this commercial was made under less than ideal conditions, for a variety of reasons, but sometimes one just has to be a trooper and do the best that one can. in the end, what matters most is that the spots are effective and humorous, which is what we were going for and ultimately, it was what we achieved.
