about the production design: principal photography for love me forever took place in the south of france, primarily in nice, cannes, and cap d'antibes, before moving north to copenhagen, with the final three weeks taking place in a soundstage at nordisk film studios.
the production design included the construction of an entire floor of the sas royal hotel, designed by the world famous architect, arne jacobsen, but reïnterpreted and updated by christian svanes kolding. a second dilapidated hotel location was also built, and every other location in the film received a top to bottom make-over.
other endeavors included the staging of a catastrophic car accident involving a vintage 1968 porsche targa on a mountain road in the french alps, as well as the design and production of a wide variety of printed advertisements, newspaper covers and news media logos and identities, ranging from elaborate fashion photo shoots to recreations of real life paparazzi photos, all of them centered around the fictitious celebrity of the film's heroine, vanessa bellevue.
the art department consisted of a full-time production crew of seventeen, supplemented by a special effects department and construction department, bringing the final total to thirty-one persons. the art department budget, excluding wages, was circa $400,000.
to the left are a few images that are limited, for now, to the scenes involving the construction of the two different hotel locations, as well as a few tantalizing hints from other aspects of the proudction design.
