DETAILS
m2 is one of the leading architectural firms in denmark, and has been steadily making a name for itself on an international niveau. this commercial marks the launch of one of their concept designs, the delta house, which bridges the gap between pre-fabricated construction and high-end, cutting-edge design.

we were given an empty shell of a house, requiring a complete re-dress. the task was relatively unspectacular, but it is included here in order to demonstrate that simple tasks require simple solutions which can, and should, be performed elegantly and tastefully, and also with a degree of restraint.

as usual, the home needed to feel inhabited, so fully-realised living environments were created - which one can see - even though much of the fillm has been reduced to a series of close-ups.

this is the sixth commercial that i have production designed with director martin aamund, and the second time that I have worked with d.p. jens måsbøl. martin isn’t afraid to improvise, and neither is jens, who is also a truly gifted, inventive and hard-working director of photography.

in terms of specific items seen in this spot, initially there was a wish to utilize pieces that had an organic feel, in terms of form and colour, to reflect the natural landscape surrounding the house. we eventually decided to go in a different direction, using more rigid pieces with very vibrant though naturally rustic colours, to play off of the structure’s modern form. it was also important to suggest that the decorations are works of art in and of themselves; though with the primary task of selling the feel and upscale design of the delta house, the choice of decoration and furnishing should always play a supporting role.

i think the spot works, an example of a simple idea done well.

a special thanks goes out to fritz hansen, who gave us free reign to use their PK 22 chairs, as well as their newest variation of the PK 80 day bed. additional thanks go to designer and producers of the fabulous claire de lune lamps.
